Asebio (Spanish Bioindustry Association) presented yesterday its annual report, which includes the latest data from the Spanish biotechnology sector. In the presentation we could see Carmen Vela Olmo, Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation and Dámaso Molero, general manager in 3P and member of the Board of Directors of Asebio.

The report highlights the growing importance of the turnover of the “bioeconomy” companies (dedicated to biotechnology and users who declare) in the Spanish GDP which in 2012 reached 7.8%. The evolution in the years of the crisis, since 2008, has been spectacular (the bioeconomy was only 2.98% of GDP).
